Story
It had been a fortnight of festivities and she could barely keep her eyes open thanks to all the sleep deprivation that had resulted from the late nights she’d spent dancing to her heart’s content. It was the last party of the season and, as she sat in the corner sipping on her drink, the corners of her mouth turned downwards into a small frown. ‘Wow, it's a new year’, she realised. And that’s when it hit her - all the people that had surrounded her in the year gone by would continue to be her support system in the years to come. And those very people were right in front of her, celebrating their new beginnings. She decided to join them and slipped on her dancing shoes once again, with a smile that was etched on her face through the night.
Celebrate precious moments as if they were your last, with this velvet on viscose Ajrak printed blouse.
Description
Ajrak is a craft whose origins can be traced to the civilisations of Mohenjo-daro and has since been practised in the regions of Sindh, Kutch and parts of Rajasthan. Each piece of Ajrak is a result of sixteen tedious steps and measures to ensure that there is no compromise in the vibrancy of the colours and precision in the print patterns on both sides of the cloth is achieved. It is commonly said amongst artisans that Ajrakh (Aaaj- Rakh) means to ‘keep it for a day’, the longer the time dedicated to the cloth, the finer the quality.
Part of what makes the craft so unique is the fact that unlike other crafts, where the patterns are directly printed on the cloth, Ajrak uses the method of resist-dye to achieve geometrical vibrant patterns.
Our take started with the realisation that a regal craft like Ajrak belongs to a material that matches its grandeur, like velvet. An entirely unique product to the market, our new collection of Ajrak printed velvet blouses is full of warmth and show stopping elegance.
Carefully block printed using natural dyes, the blouses can be further dressed up with your choice of saree or lehenga to create stunning looks for weddings and festivities.
